Thus, all the Companions are guided and lead to guidance, but the Rightly Guided Caliphs are the most distinguished in this matter. Therefore, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Alaikum bas-nathi wa sunnat-khulafa-ar-rashid-ul-mahdiyyin.” (Abu Dawood: 2/279) Translation: Hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Nations that do not make the life of their predecessors a beacon of light for themselves fall into the pit of humiliation. Today, Muslims have stopped adopting the life of the Companions, especially the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Perhaps this is the reason why they are rapidly moving towards inaction. That is why scholars have been writing books on the lives of the “Companions and Great Saints” so that the Ummah’s connection with its predecessors can be maintained. Among them is the jurist Mufti Jalaluddin Amjadi, who wrote a book on the life of the Rightly Guided Caliphs in the light of authentic narrations. The Rightly Guided Caliphs refer to the four Caliphs who became the leaders of the Muslims after the death of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The names of the Rightly Guided Caliphs are: First Caliph: Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (May Allah be pleased with him) Second Caliph: Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) Third Caliph: Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) Fourth Caliph: Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) and the caliphate of these four is called the Rightly Guided Caliphate. Alhamdulillah, the Textbook Department of Majlis Al-Madinah Al-Ilmiyah of Dawat-e-Islami worked excellently on the book “Khalifay Rashideen” whose features are as follows: (1) The errors of writing and proofreading have been removed. (2) The hadiths and Arabic text have been clarified in a separate font. (3) Some important places have been explained in the footnotes. (4) Since this book is also included in the curriculum of Tanzeem Al-Madaris, exercises have been added at the end of the chapters for the convenience of the students.
